• Participate in advanced level design and development of scalable and high-performing RSG/BrightScript applications in support of our ROKU Spectrum clients
• Work under limited direction. Analyze and resolve complex problems to ensure minimal disruption of critical applications
• Provide technical expertise in scripting languages with focus on front-end design and application performance on embedded systems
• Demonstrate ability to communicate with cross-functional teams from Development to System Operations
• Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability and general reliability
• Mentor less experienced engineers
• Interface with other teams and/or third party vendors to assist in deployment of our client application on ROKU platforms
• Monitor industry trends and advocate for front-end development best practices to maintain and enhance the product's leadership position in the industry.
Job Requirements
• 5-7+ years in software development, with 2+ years of Roku
• 5+ years working with core scripting languages such as JavaScript, BrightScript, or equivalent
• 2+ years building solutions on mobile or other resource-constrained devices
• 2+ years experience with Git version control system
• Experience enabling performance monitoring and optimizations, multivariate testing, etc.
• Knowledge of object-oriented analysis and design, enterprise design patterns and SOA architecture helpful.
• Knowledge consuming RESTful Services and JSON
• Experience working in an agile scrum and/or kanban development process
• Demonstrated ability to work in a high performance team environment
• Willingness to adapt to emerging technological changes
• Demonstrate a high standard of work ethics
• A Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science
• Ability to effectively communicate among team members and present information and respond to questions from group managers, clients and customers
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in mobile development (native and web)
• Experience developing with RSG (Roku SceneGraph) and BrightScript
• Exposure and understanding of ABR streaming technologies such as HLS and DASH
• Experience in Charles Proxy
• Experience in the cable or telecom industry
• Knowledge of IP video delivery technology
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience
