You will work both independently and as part of a team. Join us! As a manufacturing engineer, you will research, design, develop, test, certify, deploy and improve cutting edge products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You'll consult with program management, design engineers, quality, and production teams in order to develop the most efficient and cost effective means of producing our products at the highest level of quality possible. Your technical duties involve reviewing engineering designs for producibility and the development of tooling and fixtures, work instructions, production process and procedures. You will be involved in the application of manufacturing technologies and industry best practices during the design and development of new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle.

The Space Systems business area, based in Louisville, Colorado with operations in Madison, Wisconsin and Durham, North Carolina, designs and manufactures advanced spacecraft, satellites, propulsion and environmental systems, spacecraft subsystems and components for the U.S. government (including NASA), commercial customers and international organizations. Must-haves:

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in related discipline and typically 3 or more years of relevant experience
  • Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Familiarity working in multi-disciplinary teams


Preferred:
  • Familiarity in applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
  • Knowledge of industry standard design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing and production processes
  • Experience with work instruction/traveler development
  • Participation in dispositions of Non-Conformance generation through a Material Review Board (MRB)
  • Experience with new product introduction and transition to production
  • Exposure to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Manufacturing Execution System (MES), and Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systems
  • Experience with complex mechanical design, assembly and test of space rated hardware, components and systems.
  • Answer technical questions on hardware during assembly, integration and test operations.
  • Interact with technicians, various engineering groups and management with technical advice and recommendations.
  • Create and update assembly instructions that reflect the current engineering intent or drawing release.
  • Provide manufacturability recommendations to design engineers to improve products and processes concurrently in the design process and throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining a production structure, plan the assembly, integration and test flow as well as creating estimates for hours and duration of assembly and integration tasks is required.
  • Ability to create tool, fixture and ground support equipment (GSE) plans for design, validation and implementation.
  • Support the production manufacturing order (MO) process, including kit, assembly, test, inspection and MRB activities.
  • Responsible for engineering change order effectivity to maintain proper configuration during production.
  • Review drawing practices for proper interpretation and accuracy.
  • Solidworks and/or CREO CAD experience is helpful.
  • Background in program management or production scheduling is helpful.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $66,918.50 - $92,012.94
