High Alpine Brewing Company is looking for a new Executive Chef!

Summary/Objective

The executive chef is responsible for all culinary activities for the restaurant. This position will oversee all activity in the kitchen; train personnel, plan menus, oversee product purchasing and manage the culinary budget.

Essential Functions:

- Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities

- Modify menus or create new ones that meet quality standards

- Estimate food requirements and food/labor costs

- Supervise kitchen staffs activities

- Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs

- Recruit and manage kitchen staff

- Rectify arising problems or complaints

- Give prepared plates the final touch

- Perform administrative duties

- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards

- Keep time and payroll records

- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department. This position will report directly to the General Manager.

Work Environment:

The work environment can be loud and busy. There are many kitchen hazards such as hot surfaces and liquids, sharp knives, and slippery floors.

Physical Demands:

The employee is required to stand for long periods as well as walk, bend and stoop. The position requires working taste buds, ability to smell, feel with fingers and visually inspect, including close and distance vision. The position requires ability to use arms, hands and manipulate fingers to reach, stir, measure, pour, cut, chop, dice, decorate, etc.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This position regularly requires long hours and weekend work.

Required Education and Experience:

- Proven working experience as a head chef

- Excellent record of kitchen management

- Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently

- Capable of delegating multiple tasks

- Communication and leadership skills

- Keep up with cooking trends and best practices

- Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)

- Degree in Culinary science or related certificate
