We are looking for a talented Host to join our team as soon as possible. You'll be the first face our guests see, so it is important that you have an upbeat and welcoming attitude. Pay is between $20- $22 per hour (depending on experience) plus tips. Other benefits we offer are staff meals and an employee discount. We are open for dinner only every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The ideal candidate enjoys making small talk and is willing to learn the names of our patrons' in our small town establishment. Locals should be remembered and shown appreciation. You should also be willing to bus and reset tables to keep up with busy shifts and do a little of back of house work such as polishing glasses. We accept reservations so you should be able to schedule, call to confirm and be able to seat walk-ins around already set reservations. The winter season is very busy with reservations and the Omakase, therefore you need to be able to work with the busser to get the tables clean and set on time. Most importantly you need to maintain open commincation with the Chefs and servers about the upcoming reservations and when guests are seated. We need someone Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays with availability to occasionally pick up on Friday and Saturday, so if you enjoy talking to people and thrive in a fast-paced workplace, we’d like to meet you.
Host responsibilities:
Greet guests as soon as they walk in
Provide accurate wait times during busy periods
Maintain a neat, organized front of house environment
Answering phones, checking voicemails
Scheduling and confirming, reservations, while maintaining reservation book and tablet (Experience with OpenTable is a plus)
Assist with opening/closing tasks and side work as needed
Rotating seating between different server sections to avoid overload, and letting servers know when they have been sat.
Communicating with Chefs throughout the night about how many reservations are left
turning on/off outside lights
