We are looking to hire a Sous Chef to join our team. We are looking for a Sous Chef who has a passion for Italian cuisine and who has exceptional leadership skills and who can run the line & kitchen efficiently through daily service. We are a busy restaurant located in a world renown ski resort. Come work hard & and play hard in Steamboat Springs Colorado.
Sous Chef skills and qualifications
Preparing meals and food to meet the specifications of guests in a timely manner
Properly measuring kitchen ingredients and food portions
Ensuring kitchen staff adhere to set standards, procedures, department rules and sanitation requirements
Using kitchen knives and equipment such as grills, ovens, steamers and warmers in food preparation
Managing the kitchen inventory and ensuring supplies are fresh and of high quality
Ensuring proper food temperatures when cooking and proper storage afterward
Keeping the workstation and kitchen equipment clean, organized and sanitized
Taking charge of kitchen opening, closing and other side duties as directed by the Head Chef
What we're looking for:
Excited to lead a high-functioning BOH team
Ability to manage food and labor costs to maximize profitability
Culinary skills and knowledge necessary to execute to the highest standards
Thorough knowledge of food handling practices.
Understanding of financial implications of operational decisions
Ability to order products and schedule labor within budget
Ability to form and lead a strong BOH team
Basic computer and written communication skills
Ability to organize, prioritize and anticipate
Excellent management skills and an effective, positive communication style that attracts, retains and inspires an empowered back-of-house team
An interest in making connections and building relationships with vendors, employees, and the community
High standards, a commitment to quality and consistency, and a passion for creating unpretentious, inviting food that turns first-time visitors into regulars and keeps our regulars coming back for more
The ability to effectively schedule BOH staff in accordance with need and within a predetermined budget
A focused interest on health standards and safety within the kitchen
A reliable, hard-working, can-do attitude and the willingness to “make it work” - even when things go wrong
The capability and passion to work alongside your BOH staff on the line
A good sense of humor
Must be able to lift 50 lbs
