Seasonal Baggage Room Technician- $24.15+ & $3000 bonus!

Hiring Range: $24.15-$25.44 & $3000 bonus!

The Baggage Room Techs resolve baggage handling system issues, malfunctions, and jams within the baggage handling system (Bagland area). Staff will be loading/unloading/positioning luggage up to 60 lbs onto the conveyor belt and resetting the baggage system as necessary.

This position typically has 4 shifts. Shifts are as follows: Saturday-Wednesday 0500-1330, Saturday-Wednesday 1000-1830, Thursday-Monday 0500-1330, Thursday-Monday 1000-1830. The schedule may change based on flight times.

Bonus: $1500 Bonus paid on January 31st, 2025 & up to $1500 End of Season Bonus based on performance, attitude, and attendance.

Essential Functions

-Responds to baggage tie-ups/jams (30%)

-Load, unload, and position baggage up to 60 pounds.

-Handles all luggage with care.

-Works with TSA to ensure bags are aligned properly on the baggage system to limit potential jams and out-of-gauge bags. (15%)

-Monitors baggage system and responds/resets as situation requires (15%)

-Keeps the baggage system clean and maintains baggage areas (15%)

-Develops and maintains beneficial relationships with airport staff, tenants, concessionaires, and airport users. (5%)

-Observes safety and security procedures, uses equipment and materials safely and reports potentially unsafe conditions. (5%)

-Serves the community by demonstrating Eagle County Government mission and core values and following relevant policies and procedures. (5%)

-Other duties as assigned. (10%)

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification, or Registration:

Preferred Education

-High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Work Experience

-1 year of physical work experience involving heavy lifting and carrying.

-1 year of airport experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-Must successfully pass a 10-year background criminal history records check in accordance with TSR, Part 1542 and maintain eligibility for FAA and TSA-mandated security clearance requirements.

-Heavy lifting/carrying experience

-Problem-solving skills

-Experience with mechanical systems

-Maintains a professional attitude and focus under pressure

-Follows verbal and written instructions and procedures

-Maintains confidentiality for security matters

-Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with employees, tenants, other governmental agencies and departments, community, airport users, and the traveling public.

-Ability to exert up to 60+ pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently; reaching, extending hands in any direction; handling, seizing, holding, grasping, turning or otherwise working with hand(s); fingering, picking and pinching with fingers.

-Some heavy lifting of objects up to 70 lbs.

-Flexibility is necessary to bend, stoop, kneel or otherwise move around while accomplishing various maintenance tasks.

-Hear normal conversational tones and a wide variety of tones associated with equipment and emergency alerts.

-Willing to work early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays

-Climb ladders and work in small, tight areas.

-Work independently, staying alert throughout the day.
