About Marshall Forestry Solutions
Marshall Forestry Solutions (MFS) was established in 2016 and offers mechanized forestry and wildfire mitigation services throughout the state of Colorado. MFS contracts with a wide variety of forestry projects from small scale fuel reduction projects for private landowners, to fulfilling large-scale logging contracts on both State and Federal lands. MFS understands the many benefits that can be derived from forestry efforts and has developed treatment prescriptions tailored to wildfire mitigation, logging operations, recreational development, habitat enhancement for wildlife, and infrastructure development.
Mechanics Role
The Mechanics at MFS are an integral part of quality operations at the company. The roles of the MFS mechanic are to maintain and repair equipment as efficiently as possible to keep operations moving timely and efficiently. Sourcing parts and knowledge is a large part of the job. Utilizing all resources, and finding new resources to avoid costly downtime and expensive dealer parts. Communication with Operation Managers and Site Foreman to establish repair and service priority is essential. Keeping notes and filling out service sheets for repair and maintenance is required, and will help you in your position in the future. It is imperative that mechanics keep the bigger picture in mind, and order parts as quickly as possible to eliminate wait/downtime if parts are slow to ship, or incorrect. The Mechanic will always be behind, with a healthy backlog of repairs and maintenance. It is up to the Mechanic to communicate with Managers and Foreman so that the Mechanic can utilize their time to the best of their ability. This position is located in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
Responsibilities
General Duties
- Communicate with MFS Managers and Foreman to establish which tasks are priority to keep operations moving
- Repair equipment to a point where it is safe to operate or drive
- Perform routine maintenance according to manufacturer’s recommendations or better
- Fill out and track repairs and maintenance items on maintenance sheets
- Source parts and materials with time and cost benefits in mind
Daily Duties
- Talk with Managers and Foreman about priorities
- Perform repair and maintenance on trucks and equipment
- Source parts
