AVA Rafting & Zipline: Whitewater Raft Guide

Location: AVA Rafting & Zipline has three outposts located throughout the state of Colorado. Those three locations are Buena Vista, Idaho Springs and Kremmling

Schedule: Seasonal Full Time

Pay Rate: According to pay scale of river mileage and sections checked out on, + end-of-season bonus upon completion of contract

- River Guide I Expected Day Trip Range: $37.00 -$104.00 per trip/DOE

- River Guide I Expected Overnight Trip Range: $141.00 - $400.00 per overnight/DOE (applies to Buena Vista and Kremmling locations)

- Hourly Work: Any hourly work will be compensated at $15.00/hour

These are the pay ranges that AVA reasonably expects to pay for this position. A variety of factors are considered when determining individual compensation decisions.

Becoming a Professional River Guide: Our world class guide school will teach you all the skills necessary to become a whitewater industry professional. It will also certify you to legally guide commercial rafting trips in the state of Colorado. We teach our students to safely run any river, any crew anywhere. As a result, your certification, and the skills you will learn can be transferred to other states in the US as well as countries all over the world. The knowledge you will gain in leadership, communication, risk management and critical decision making will strengthen your ability to perform in any carrier and allow you to excel in any industry.

Job Description: As an AVA guide your job is to surpass the expectations of our guests by leading world class adventures that provide safe and unique interactions with our natural environment every day. You should be passionate about setting the bar in our industry of safety, respect, and innovation while holding yourself to the highest personal standards with integrity.

Requirements:

- Successfully complete AHRA approved guide training program, AVA's Guide School or have completed certified guide school elsewhere

- Demonstrate outstanding guest service and professionalism at all times

- Maintain distinct understanding of the guide's integral role in creating the very best guest experience, and take responsibility for this role at all times

- Possess current First Aid and CPR certifications

- Commit to work for entire season, including all weekends and holidays

- Able to have a flexible schedule

- Able to work as productive and positive member of team

- Able to work outdoors for long days in diverse weather conditions

- Have a high physical fitness level

- Over 18 years of age

- Be involved in at least one department (transportation, safety, training, property, equipment) at your outpost

- Help maintain quality and cleanliness of outpost, including picking up trash

- Have strong camping and wilderness skills

- Enjoy working with a variety of people in an active environment

- Have a well-groomed and professional presentation

- Work positively and effectively as part of a team environment

- Able to take constructive criticism about your performance

- Able to speak to large groups of people

- Able to make critical decisions in a fast-paced environment

- Adhere to AVA policies and procedures

- Understand and exemplify AVA core values, vision, and mission
