A large working ranch property (6,500 acres) north of Vail, Colorado has created a new position for a Ranch Assistant to live on the property and handle a variety of physical, hands-on management and maintenance tasks. The ranch owner would like to hire a professional with excellent trades skills (carpentry, basic plumbing and electrical, welding, etc. all a plus) who is comfortable working around horses, livestock, and other members of the team.
The successful candidate should be knowledgeable in many areas of ranch operations and management, such as: irrigation and water systems, including creeks, desalination, etc.; vehicle upkeep, servicing, and maintenance; and upkeep of trails and roads. Must be licensed to operate heavy farm and ranch machinery and vehicles. Basic proficiency with computers, smartphones, tablets, email, etc. required; additional technology skills and ability to perform basic troubleshooting a plus.
To be considered, you should have five to ten years of ranch experience. This position will involve physical labor and requires the ability to lift and handle heavy machinery, materials, and livestock.
