The Technician will help maintain equipment and provide on-site equipment training in cafes, restaurants, and other facilities, mainly in western Colorado. The position requires a passion for both coffee and doing good work, natural skills in working with your hands, and an ability to solve problems intuitively. This position requires frequent adaptation to various situations and the ability to think quickly on your feet.
Essential Functions
Service new accounts by performing pre-installation review, gathering components and parts and completing installations
Studying with our Director of Coffee to learn best practices for espresso and coffee equipment care
Tasting and dialing in coffee at customer accounts and troubleshooting brewing and cleaning practices
Training customers on equipment and proper coffee preparation
Helping to maintain a clean, presentable, and easily accessible workspace. This includes company vehicles and café spaces.
Assisting in creating and maintaining an organized and cohesive parts and equipment inventory and workspace
Assessing and repairing home espresso equipment for customers brought in through our home repair program
Performing regular preventative maintenance and service calls for customers, which may include emergency calls on nights and weekends
Providing friendly, approachable customer service to the variety of accounts we work with, both wholesale and non-wholesale
Providing maintenance support for Bonfire Coffee’s cafe and facilities
Document service and installation actions by completing forms, reports logs and records
Occasionally assisting with production tasks
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
Previous Coffee Service Technician experience a plus.
Demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for coffee
Strong customer service skills and the ability to maintain customer relationships
Strong mechanical aptitude; plumbing and electrical knowledge a plus
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Organizational and time management skills
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to work well in a team environment
General knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Ability to work alone and unsupervised with a high degree of productivity and professionalism
Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
Education and Work Experience
A combination of education and work experience that can include the following
Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent
Bachelor’s or Associates Degree desired, but not required
1 year experience in a position that gets “your hands dirty” ie, carpentry, electrical work, mechanical work, cable installation, etc. Experience with tools, or in HVAC, mechanics, or electronics preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience in the coffee industry, including as a barista
