Maxar is seeking to hire a Spacecraft Systems Engineer with strong technical program management Skills to join our Earth Observation Systems (EOS) team based in Westminster, CO.

What you will do: Working with other EOS leaders, other departments and engineers, this person will lead or support mission trade studies, develop mission & satellite requirements, hardware and system specifications, and system/subsystem budgets. This person will interact directly with other Maxar divisions and outside contractors, providing insight and oversight of all phases of development including design, manufacturing, test, troubleshooting, and launch. This person will also interface with Maxar or external (customer) ground system development and spacecraft operations and engineering teams to align on space to ground interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Program Management tasks - initiating, organizing, integrating, planning, managing, and controlling, developing, and completing projects or programs.
  • Maintain and coordinate design and integration schedules in accordance with deliverables represented with the Statements of Work (SOW)
  • Track schedule, financial budget forecasting, and earned value management.
  • Assist with business proposals and the basis of estimates for cost and schedule.
  • Coordinate with legal and compliance in the implementation of contracts and non-disclosure agreements.
  • The position may have direct reports.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be a US citizen and have the ability to obtain a top secret or higher security clearance
  • Bachelors Degree in engineering, physics, mathematical or related field
  • 8 or more years of aerospace experience
  • Experience leading a multi-discipline engineering team
    • Developing and communicating the vision for the team
    • Developing the detailed plan with support from others
    • Facilitating collaboration across disciplines to develop a design, both during the early capture/trade phase and during program execution
    • Demonstrated inquisitiveness and drive to both learn from and grow/mentor junior team members
    • Ability to fold lessons learned into the program execution as it evolves
    • Detailed knowledge of the full breadth of functions and performance drivers across all satellite subsystems and components, with demonstrated expertise (depth) in at least one discipline
  • Intimate knowledge of the satellite mission system engineering life cycle
  • System budgeting and performance analysis
  • Requirements development for Satellites from the decomposition of business requirements, through mission design and conops development, to detailed system and subsystem procurement specifications
  • Demonstrated ability to manage functional and system requirements and interfaces
  • Technical execution and system performance, including system V&V sell-off and on-orbit demonstration of performance
  • Detailed understanding of manufacturing processes, assembly, integration and test
  • Experience with successful launch and operations including anomaly resolution


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active Top Secret or higher security clearance
  • Excellent collaboration, communication (both verbal and written), facilitation, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work multiple tasks at the same time and possess a strong sense of personal accountability regarding decision-making.
  • Ability to predict challenges and seek to proactively head-off obstacles.
  • Familiar with Scaled Agile Framework for program execution
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Physics, or equivalent degree or experience


The compensation range for this position is $102,000 to $170,000 USD annually, dependent on skills and experience. This position is also eligible for a bonus plan.
