Job Description

Overview: The Retail Manager helps to pursue the mission of Farm Runners Station by supporting the Station team and by overseeing all aspects of the retail operation while creating a positive team atmosphere. A successful Retail Manager will be a good communicator, a problem solver, team-oriented, action taker and a big-picture thinker.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Retail Store Operation: Participate in all duties of retail store operation, including, but not limited to: stocking and receiving, food prep, cash handling, guest service, taking food and drink orders and maintenance of facilities.

Staff Training and Management: Assist in interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new Station team members. Give constructive feedback to Station team members about performance, recognition of jobs well done, room for improvement, etc. Communicate team concerns to the Farm Runners Operations Manager. Work with Operations Manager to address concerns.

Staff Scheduling and Workflow: Set weekly shift schedules. Regular communication with staff regarding days off or call ins. Set to-do lists and projects for the Station team. Delegate daily/weekly tasks to Station team members.

Store Presentation and Organization: Delegate and complete tasks related to store upkeep and organization. Promote sales and attract customers by originating display ideas, creating signage, and keeping up with quality control measures. Continual communication with the Ordering Managers and Kitchen Staff to make sure orders and products are being executed properly.

Ordering and Inventory Maintenance: Work with Ordering Managers to maintain a sales floor and backstock inventory; bring in new products, and discontinue products with low sales as well as manage out of date products.

Qualifications and Skills:

Minimum one year retail and/or food service experience. Bonus to have a focus in local or specialty foods

Minimum one year staff management experience. Demonstrable skills in delegation, team communication, and scheduling duties

Proficiency in navigating online ordering platform, Square point of sale software, and Google Drive programs (Docs and Sheets)

Register and cash handling experience

Well-organized, detail-oriented and able to multitask

Must have effective problem solving/decision making abilities

Outgoing and upbeat presence with customers and staff. Able to keep personal composure under busy, chaotic, and stressful circumstances

Passionate about local agriculture and local food

Physical Requirements:

This position requires frequent standing and use of hands and arms.

Ability to repeatedly lift boxes and bags weighing 25-50 lbs.

Workload/Schedule:

36-40 hours/week

Wednesday thru Sunday Schedule

Compensation: Based on experience; will be discussed at interview
