About the Job
In this position, you will be responsible for leading, mentoring and coaching of Packaging team members in interpersonal and technical growth, as well as directing and optimizing the operational performance of packaging at Ska Brewing World Headquarters. You will be working with the Production Manager on departmental schedules, documents, and budgetary accounts as well as monitoring inventory and materials, personnel, and supplies needed to ensure packaging production efficiencies, as well as advising and coordinating with maintenance on daily repairs and long-term improvements. This is a non-exempt position.
Wage Range $22.00-28.00/Hour
Responsibilities
o Uphold a high standard of cleanliness of all equipment and production areas in the brewery
o Maintain and promote a culture of safety, adhering department to all safety regulations, practice, SOPs, PPE.
o Monitor production schedules and work with Production Manager to adjust staffing to meet these schedules
o Ensure compliance with company policies and rules of conduct and address performance issues appropriately
o Provide leadership in process improvement and implementation
o Partner with brewing, cellaring and other departments to meet production goals
o Work with the maintenance team to ensure machinery is performing correctly
o Responsible for preventative maintenance (PM) schedule
o Analyze malfunctions and efficiencies in the packaging area and make continuous improvements when needed
o Train all new employees on QA program, CIP, and safe operation of all packaging equipment
o Make sure all daily tasks and checklists are completed properly
o Continuous focus on packaging line efficiencies
o Maintain can seam quality
o Train and certify forklift (sit-down and stand-up), maintaining proper inspections and records
o Lead training, promotion, and maintenance of good manufacturing and housekeeping practices
o Monitor and ensure the execution of all packaging production orders in Encompass (ERP software)
o Train all packaging techs to input all final package volumes in Encompass daily
Non-routine Tasks
o Assist cellar in daily operations
o Assist brewhouse in daily operations
o Assist lab in daily operations
o Assist Warehouse in daily operations
o Helping with snow removal as needed
Our Ideal Candidate
o Must be at least 21 years of age
o Has 2+ years of brewery packaging experience
o Have 1+ years of Management experience
o Has packaged beer or worked in a related operations field
o Is effective in a team environment, and able to lead a multi-shift operation
o Possess analytical skills and math aptitude to understand and interpret operating data such as packaging metrics, production schedules, budget, safety, and quality.
o Is a problem solver and solution developer for complex situations and issues
o Experienced with managing operations and employees at various levels
o Has excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task
o Is knowledgeable about beer and the brewing process
o Creates a productive, gratifying work environment
o Possesses an excellent mechanical aptitude, a passion for machinery and automation
o Is well-versed in packaging quality parameters
o Has a solid understanding of sanitation, CIP, GMP, and HACCP procedures
o Familiar with PLC logic and low/high-voltage wiring
o Can lift and move up to 165lb safely
