But if change is going to shape our world, it’s comforting to know that we’re shaping the change.You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Primary Responsibilities:The Data Science Manager in this role will lead development and implementation of predictive models and data science solutions; apply data transformations to support actuarial and predictive modeling, within the Medicare, Medicaid and/or Commercial lines of business; Design data science solutions; Support development of advanced machine learning classification and regression algorithms; Develop understanding of complex data science methodology to generate actionable insights and develop solutions for Optum clients; Develop and implement Model Monitoring processes; Apply technical skills to complex analyses to draw key insights that reflect an understanding of the overall consulting engagement; Effectively create visually appealing, client-ready, and accurate deliverables;

Design data science solutions and tools throughout all data science mode

Analyze different data sources to determine value and make recommendations

Perform assessments on existing data science models and suggest resolutions of moderate complexity

Collaborate and communicate effectively with broader team, while supporting ad-hoc analytics

Serve as a resource to junior data scientists and management

Maintain high quality documentation of predictive models, data definitions, transformations, and processes to ensure data science governance and security

Take accountability for work within a fast-paced consulting environment

Master’s or PHD in STEM or related fields

6+ years of data science work experience

Subject matter expertise with 5+ years of experience in Python and SQL

2+ years in leading technical team(s) of at least 2 data scientists

Expertise in practical business application with at least 3 of the following:

Regression

Classification

Machine Learning

NLP

Deep Learning

Preferred Qualifications:

Graduate of Data Science Leadership Development Program DSLDP and prior data science experience in the insurance industry

1+ years of experience with Cloud environment like Azure

Experience with health care claims and/or pharmacy claims (i.e. understanding of costs, expected claims, diagnosis codes, procedure codes, pharmacy terminology, etc.) and/or experience with UHG and/or Optum data and analytical products

Experience working in a consultancy, actuarial, research or healthcare field in a data science role

Proven analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Proven ability to handle changing priorities/requirements/deadlines

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
