Job DescriptionA banking employer is seeking a Systems Engineer to join their team in Middletown, CT. The Systems Engineer will report to the Systems Manager and be responsible for implementation, installation, configuration, and maintenance of server hardware, software, and infrastructure systems. They will work closely with the Engineering group, Network team, System Security, and Level 2 business areas to support the IT systems and applications. On a daily basis, they will help manage physical and virtual server environments, network shares, system security components and handle administration of network servers, operating systems, and directory servers. They will perform installation, configuration, updates, and automation of system installations and upgrades as well as collaborate with vendors to resolve issues. The Systems Engineer will develop and maintain system documentation, and monitor systems and resolve complex problems. They will make recommendations on projects and assist with the evaluation of new business software for enterprise usage. They will provide support in the daily maintenance of Windows Operating systems, SQL databases, backup systems, and email systems. They will act as an escalation point for technical issues that arise, and will help with system upgrade planning, software licensing, and user permissions. There may occasional travel to other company branches within Connecticut. Strong communication and customer service abilities are a must have for this position.Skills and Requirements
5+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer
Expertise managing virtual environments including utilizing VMWare and related technologies
Experience with Active Directory, SQL Database, and Windows Operating Systems
Understanding of networking and networking fundamentals Experience with Azure cloud
