Our mission is to provide equitable access to innovative care that improves health, recovery and growth at all stages of life.POSITION SUMMARY The Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Technician will provide individual patient care through an evidence-based treatment using Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Therapy. The TMS Technician is an integral part of the team concept in Wheeler's Health and Wellness delivery system, which is devoted to delivering integrated care in an ambulatory setting that emphasizes the treatment of depression and mental health. The TMS Technician’s primary responsibility will be administering in-office therapeutic treatments, monitoring patients during sessions, coordinating and scheduling appointments, and managing internal and external referrals. SALARY $20 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED required. Experience in a medical or behavioral health office setting is preferred. Successful completion of TMS Certification (training and certification provided during first two-week period of employment). Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with EHRs is preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between Health and Wellness Centers, as needed. Demonstrates excellent patient care and treats patients with compassion while developing trust, and rapport. Provides support, reflective listening, and compassion to patients struggling with depression, anxiety, or other medical health or medical conditions. Delivers appropriate phone etiquette and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills and analytical and problem-solving abilities. Must acquire and maintain CPR certification within 90 days of date of hire. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Shows patient to TMS therapy room and prepares them for daily TMS treatments.
Maintains effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow (http://www.mgma.com/patientflow/) .
Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, review of patient pretreatment questions, review of screening tools; confirming purpose of the visit and enters patient information into medical record.
Administers TMS treatments according to specific physician protocols. Sets up the TMS machine and monitors all aspects of the treatment sessions for patient comfort and treatment accuracy.
Gives instructions to patients as instructed by Psychiatrist or APRN.
Follows up and tracks internal and external referrals in a timely fashion.
Discusses patient’s financial obligations and coordinates payment plan.
Works closely with Wheeler’s Insurance Authorization Department.
Performs scheduling duties for both TMS patients, Psychiatrist, and APRN.
Provides collaborative and coordinated integrated care between departments.
Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; trouble shooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventative maintenance; calling for repairs.
Takes telephone messages and provides feedback and answers to patient, Psychiatrist, and APRN.
Continues to develop knowledge and understanding about the history, traditions, values, family systems, and artistic expression of groups served as well as uses appropriate methodological approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding of culture.
Adheres to strict infection control practices to maintain a clean, orderly environment, using clinic approved disinfectants to clean and disinfect surfaces and work environments after each patient visit and each equipment used per manufacturer recommendations, including patient care areas, the laboratory, or other areas as needed.
Regulatory and Corporate Compliance Responsibilities
Understands and adheres to Wheeler Clinic’s compliance standards as they appear in the clinic’s Corporate Compliance Plan, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy.
Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and clinic regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
