Description We are offering a contract opportunity for a Controller in Washington, District of Columbia. The individual will be working in a fast-paced environment, primarily responsible for overseeing the company's financials, reconciliations, and month-end closing processes. Responsibilities: Oversee the month-end close process and ensure all financial data is accurate. Review and reconcile cash receipts and ensure they align with the general ledger. Manage the preparation and entry of journal entries, specifically for federal grants. Oversee the accounts payable and payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Maintain and manage investment accounts, ensuring all entries and reconciliations are accurate. Review and reconcile all accounts receivable accounts against the A/R module. Monitor bank statements for potential wires and ACH payments and manage cash flow effectively. Manage the billing process post month-end reconciliation, ensuring all federal and non-federal amounts are billed to clients accurately. Handle all interactions with Bank of America, including retrieving lockboxes daily and requesting addendums for EFT payments. Manage the data transfer from Financial Edge to Power Plan and link new projects as necessary. Ensure all invoice payments are entered accurately in the accounts receivable module. Skills: Familiarity with Month End Close and Job Cost processes Proficiency in Financial Edge software Experience with Federal Grant management Knowledge of Project BillingRequirements Possession of a minimum of 10 years of experience in a Controller or similar financial leadership role Demonstrated expertise in Month End Close procedures Proficiency in Job Cost analysis and management Experience with Financial Edge software is mandatory Familiarity with Federal Grant accounting and compliance Proven experience in Project Billing and financial project management Strong financial analysis, forecasting, and strategic planning skills Excellent leadership and team management abilities Exceptional communication and presentation skills Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (Master’s degree or CPA certification preferred) Solid understanding of financial regulations and legislation Advanced knowledge of accounting software and databases Ability to handle high levels of confidentiality with professionalism Strong strategic planning and business development skills.
