Job Title: Utility InspectorJob DescriptionWe are seeking a Utility Inspector to join our team in replacing lead service lines with copper ones. The role involves inspecting water mains and other structures to ensure structural soundness, safety, and compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate will document inspection results, monitor progress, oversee construction services, and comply with safety guidelines.Responsibilities
Inspect water mains and other structures (roads, dams, bridges, etc.) to ascertain structural soundness, safety, and compliance with codes and regulations.
Document inspection results including deterioration, structural condition, deficiencies between design and execution of construction, and any needed sampling.
Monitor progress and contribute to construction reports and/or project status reports.
Oversee and coordinate construction-related services on projects.
Conduct on-site investigations and review relevant data including maps, reports, tests, drawings, and other required documents.
Comply with guidelines and regulations, including permits and safety, and deliver technical files and other technical documentation as required.
Essential Skills
OSHA 10 certification
Strong communication skills
Bilingual in Spanish
1+ years of construction experience
High School Diploma
5 years of relevant construction experience
U.S. citizenship
Ability to pass a federal background check
Technical proficiency and design application knowledge
Understanding of the construction process for large commercial, municipal, or federal projects
Strong organizational skills
Excellent attention to detail
Comfortable working with computers, tablets, and phones
Strong writing and oral communication skills
Good interpersonal skills
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
Experience in excavation, site development, construction inspection, and surveying
Interest in the construction industry
Work EnvironmentThe position involves canvassing and surveying the area, using a mobile app on a tablet for guidance, and inspecting pipes while taking photos. The work site is located in Washington, NJ. The hours are 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, with opportunities for overtime pay. The role requires a vehicle, with mileage reimbursement provided.
