NewsNation is looking for a Segment Producer to join the network and work on the daily political program The Hill. The Segment Producer is responsible for contributing story ideas, compiling elements, and crafting stories and segments on a variety of topics centering on political news, domestic news and international news. The Segment Producer works with the show leadership team to help accurately and truthfully relay stories and make them part of engaging and insightful broadcasts. The position is based at the network's offices in Washington, DC.Duties & Responsibilities: Research topics using the Internet, video archives, and other information sources Select strongest possible elements to help best tell stories Write clear, compelling and strong editorial copy Assist in preparing and executing live, compelling television newscasts. Keep Executive Producer and Senior Producer apprised of developments of stories Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Producer and Senior Producer or network leadershipRequirements & Skills: BA/BS degree or equivalent degree in journalism or related field Five or more years’ experience in national or major-market news Experience and background in producing political news is strongly preferred Must be detail-oriented and have excellent written and verbal communication skills with an eye towards grammar Must exhibit strong news judgment Must have strong broadcast writing skills Must be self-directing, self-motivating and able to work will with a diverse group of people Must interact well with on-air talent, news managers, videographers, production, digital and engineering staff Must be able to handle stress, including short deadlines Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time Must be able to work assigned shifts including holidays as neededSalary Range: 75,000 -90,000#LI-OnsiteNexstar Media Group, Inc. The ideal candidate is proficient in shooting and editing video and is equipped to ably partner with a correspondent and producer to craft stories which are engaging, compelling, and accurate. The person must have a strong work-ethic, be a self-starter, a clear communicator, and a team player.The news photographer will cover stories in and around Washington, DC and will also be dispatched to cover stories nationally or in some cases internationally as well.Duties & Responsibilities:-Shoot video for news reports-Edit reporter packages and elements for television broadcasts and digital use on Adobe Premiere-Familiarity with Bit Central & Latakoo helpful but not required- Shoot active and dynamic live shots in various settings-Maintain video equipment and other gear-Operate portable live unit and ENG trucks in remote situations-Short notice travel and schedule flexibility will be required, including weekends-Perform other duties as assigned-Travel will be required
