Phlebotomist - Washington, D.C.Outpatient Lab | Monday to Friday, 7:30am - 4pmRotating SaturdaysJob DescriptionThe main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. Position Responsibilities: Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, updating patient information, etc. Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture, blood drawing, and/or other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) as required. Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully understand all of the physicians' orders. Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Check all test requisitions or computer labels against script to ensure 100% accuracy. Package specimens for transport. Store specimen samples according to required temperature, place samples in appropriate collection container/tube, accurately label, and follow different procedures as outlined by protocol to maintain integrity of the specimen. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Hard Skills

This is an IOP that acts as a PSC servicing 100+ patients daily.

1st shift. Mon – Fri. 7:30am – 4pm. Saturdays as scheduled.
