The firm is internationally recognized for its representation of Fortune 500 companies in high-stakes litigation and government-facing matters, as well as its ongoing commitment to pro bono service and diversity, equity, and inclusion.Job SummaryThe Senior Accountant handles a variety of critical accounting responsibilities including cash and banking activities, fixed assets, reconciliations for more complex areas, financial statement preparation, financial analysis, and preparation of external audit schedules. This is a highly visible role, working closely with Finance leaders and numerous internal departments across our global offices.  This role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.Job ResponsibilitiesParticipate in all aspects of the month-end close process: post journal entries, perform calculations, maintain detailed workpapers, and analyze variances.Prepare and review monthly consolidated financial statements.Analyze balance sheet account activity and prepare reconciliations. Research and resolve reconciling items. Review and approve reconciliations prepared by the Staff Accountant.Supervise daily cash accounting performed by the Staff Accountant and Trust Accountant and ensure all cash transactions are properly accounted for. Review and approve office cash and trust account bank reconciliations.Act as main Finance point of contact with the business on leases and construction projects. Maintain the accounting and corresponding schedules for all construction in progress and lease costs for the firm, in collaboration with individual office administrators. Advise Finance leadership on the construction project cash flow needs.Participate as key member of special project teams for finance transformation process and technology initiatives.Support annual budget and periodic forecast efforts.Work closely with Accounts Payable to ensure accurate recording and classification of expenses. Supervise expenses recorded in bulk. Coordinate reconciliation of credit card account activity.Analyze key firm processes and transaction flows and proactively recommend operational improvements including optimizing the impact of technology. Collaborate across the Finance team and the business to roll out improved and automated processes.Support the annual audit, prepare supporting documentation and collaborate closely with external audit team.Mentor the Staff Accountant and the Trust Accountant.
