Seeking Temporary, Full-Time, Live-In Caregiver from 7/29 Thru 8/9

Seeking temporary, full-time, live-in caregiver in Ashburn, Virginia, for a 59 year-old paralyzed man, while his regular caregiver is away on vacation.

This job:

-starts on Monday 7/29 at 8:30 AM thru

-until at least Friday 8/9 at 6 PM

On Monday 7/29 at 8:30 AM, you will start paid training with the regular caregiver.

The regular caregiver will leave for vacation on Tuesday 7/30 in the evening.

If you meet the requirements and want to be considered for the position, please respond with a brief description of your work experience (and resume if available).

IMPORTANT:

Please note that although this job is labeled as "Full-Time," there will be a LOT of downtime. However, you would need to assist the patient whenever needed.

Please feel free to discuss any issues, concerns, and questions with the patient & his caregiver. You are also free to discuss these with the patient's current caregiver (in private, if you wish).

You are obligated to stay with the patient until at least Friday 8/9 at 6 PM.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Patient is a 205 pound, 6 foot tall paralyzed male. Caregiver must be strong enough to move the patient from one side of the bed to the other, in order to prevent pressure sores on the patient's skin. I've had many caregivers who were only a fraction of my weight, and they were able to easily move me on the bed – as long as they used the correct nursing methods.

During the day, the patient needs to be turned approximately 4-5 times. Overnight, the patient usually sleeps all night with no rotations.

After the regular caregiver departs on Tuesday 7/30 in the evening, if you have questions then the patient can explain most (but not all) aspects of his care.

Patient has a quiet and easy-going personality.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide full-time, live-in caregiving.

A Registered Nurse (RN) will visit 3 times per week to manage medications and some toileting.

The caregiver must be strong enough and able to turn the patient in bed in order to to prevent the patient from getting pressure sores. Training will be provided. A video on this training will also be made accessible to you.

Patient has an ostomy for urine. The urine drains into a 2 liter (2L) bag on the side of the bed. You must empty this bag at least several times a day.

A Registered Nurse (RN) usually changes the patient's urinary ostomy appliance. You will also receive training on how to change the ostomy, in the unlikely event that the ostomy needs to be changed when the nurse is not present. The patient can help guide you through this.

The patient eats about 3 times per day. Most foods are in the refrigerator/freezer/cupboard, and can be microwaved.

BENEFITS:

-pay is $120 per 24 hour day

-much free time

-your own private bedroom with large TV, walk-in closet, and bathroom

-Access to entire home (kitchen, dining room, laundry, etc.). You must provide your own meals. There are numerous grocery stores, fast food places, and restaurants nearby.

-Ideally, the new caregiver would be a homebody but would still have the freedom to occasionally go out (as long as sufficient advance notice is given).

-The Ashburn metro station (on the Silver line) is an approximately 10-15 minute car drive away from the patient's condo.

REQUIREMENTS:

-Must provide proof of Covid 19 vaccination(s).

-Must pass a criminal background check (at patient's expense).

-Must provide at least 1 work reference.

-Needs to provide proof of being able to legally work in the U.S. (U.S. citizen, or a green card holder, or an Employment Authorization document holder).

If you meet the requirements and want to be considered for the position, please respond with a brief background of your work experience (and resume if available).
