Payroll Specialist

Description We are in search of a Payroll Specialist to join our team based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This role focuses on handling multi-state payroll processes, specifically for a workforce of approximately 500-1000 employees. The selected candidate will be tasked with managing various payroll-related tasks, including the processing of bi-weekly payroll, handling deductions, and overseeing final pay. This role offers a short term contract employment opportunity.Responsibilities: Oversee the accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payroll for less than 1000 employees across multiple states. Manage and organize garnishments and special overtime pay. Handle payroll taxes and ensure compliance with multi-state tax regulations. Maintain accurate records of all payroll transactions. Utilize ADP Workforce Now software for efficient payroll processing. Ensure the correct calculation and application of payroll deductions. Manage the payroll mailbox and respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll. Oversee the general ledger as it pertains to payroll. Assist with Canadian payroll processing as needed. Monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action based on account status. Requirements Possess at least 1 year of experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is required Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services and ADP Workforce Now is preferred Experience with Ceridian and Dayforce is beneficial Knowledge of 401k - RRSP Administration and About Time is desirable Must possess a strong understanding of Accounting Functions and Auditing Proficiency in Benefit Functions, Payroll - Garnishments, and Process Garnishments is essential Ability to Correct Garnishment Calculations and manage Special Payroll Deductions Experience with bi-Monthly Payroll and Canadian Payroll is beneficial Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus Must have experience with Full Cycle Payroll and HRIS Payroll System Knowledge of Local Payroll Tax, Multi-state Payroll, and Payroll for 101 - 500 Employees is required Experience with Payroll software, Payroll Tax Reporting, and Payroll Taxes is necessary Ability to Process Bi-weekly Payroll, Process Payroll, and Reconcile Payroll Familiarity with Tax - Payroll and Year-end Payroll is required Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills are required A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred.
