Job Description

The Compliance Director will provide support to the development and oversight of Surplus Lines business, as well as admitted Property & Casualty forms and rates. Assist in the research and evaluation of state insurance laws, regulations and bulletins for Surplus Lines, Commercial Lines and Personal Lines P&C programs. Conducts compliance reviews of E&S lines brokers and assists underwriters on compliance in all states.

  • Prepare product filings or review submitted forms and rates for surplus lines and commercial P&C programs, advice on compliance related issues and assure policy forms fulfill company’s reinsurance and risk tolerance standards.state
  • Assure surplus lines programs satisfy regulatory requirements of export lists and required due diligence and declination rules, broker licensures are in place and on-going compliance is maintained over the programs.
  • Manage process to obtain actuarial memorandums, rates and formulas to support new and/or amended commercial P&C product filings with the various states’ Departments of Insurance.
  • Maintain filing and records system for all regulatory documents, ensuring compliance with the division guidelines.
  • Research, review and disseminate compliance information, law revisions, and other industry communications received from state agencies and regulatory bodies. Perform periodic research of regulatory websites and publications for changes in surplus lines and admitted P&C product requirements and communicate to all affected departments.
  • Collaborate with various departments to obtain accurate information for scheduled financial reporting to state regulatory agencies for all entities.
  • Help identify solutions to achieve both compliance and business goals. Proactively identify process/service improvement opportunities and make decisions or recommendations on the best course of action for new processes or procedures.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA preferred
  • Requires extensive (7-10 years) experience with Surplus Lines and Commercial Lines insurance programs, including form development and compliance reviews. Familiarity with State laws and DOI regulations relating to E&S products and admitted P&C insurance products, as well as agent licensing and related requirements.
  • Effective communication and writing skills including grammatical usage, persuasive copy, and style.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently and to preserve and protect proprietary and confidential information.
  • Results-oriented with basic project management ability.
  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels within the organization and state insurance departments
