Job Summary:
The Sheetrock Mudder/Painter applies drywall compound (mud) to seams, holes, and imperfections in drywall surfaces, sands for a smooth finish, and applies paint or other coatings to complete the project. This role requires attention to detail, precision, and the ability to work with a variety of finishing tools and materials.
Key Responsibilities:
Apply joint compound (mud) to drywall seams, corners, and screw holes.
Tape and bed drywall joints to create a smooth surface.
Sand and smooth drywall surfaces for an even finish.
Repair dents, cracks, and other imperfections in drywall.
Prime and paint drywall using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
Match paint colors and apply various textures as required.
Protect surfaces with masking tape, drop cloths, and coverings.
Ensure proper surface preparation before painting.
Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas.
Follow safety guidelines and company standards on all job sites.
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience in drywall mudding, taping, sanding, and roller/spray painting.
Knowledge of different types of paint, primers, and finishes.
Ability to use hand and power tools, including trowels, putty knives, sanders, and sprayers.
Strong attention to detail and ability to create smooth finishes.
Physical ability to lift heavy materials, climb ladders, and work in various conditions.
Ability to read blueprints and work with construction teams as needed.
Good time management and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in residential or commercial drywall finishing and painting.
Familiarity with different drywall textures and finishing techniques.
