Begin your reply with the phrase, "I AM AVAILABLE TO LIVE IN."
I am seeking a compassionate, dependable, live-in personal assistant for my father who is in his 90's.
This position provides a private bedroom and bath in a clean, safe pool home in The Villages, utilities, cable, and a $700 weekly stipend. It is ideal for someone looking for a stable, long-term living arrangement in a warm, supportive environment.
The ideal candidate is self-reliant, enjoys a peaceful home environment, and can keep themselves entertained while ensuring care for the elderly gentleman.
Must have reliable transportation, driver's license, and insurance.
Begins Jan 2025.
No smoking, no drugs, no pets. A drug test, background check, and bond are required.
The working hours and days are flexible and include five days and forty hours per week. We prefer the working days and hours to be Sunday through Thursday, 8 - 4, but this is not written in stone.
Outside of working hours, you are not expected to perform any duties; you are free to do your own thing and come and go as you choose. However, this position is for a candidate who chooses to live at the house seven days per week and prefers to have only an occasional weekend or overnight trip away. Labor laws will be adhered to.
In an emergency, the candidate would be on-call until a family member arrives from out of town.
My father is currently independent but may require more assistance over time.
He is mentally alert, bathes and dresses himself, cooks his meals, keeps himself entertained, and enjoys going to Texas Road House and riding in the golf cart once a week.
He needs assistance with light housekeeping and meal prep, laundry, errands, managing and transportation to doctor appointments, ordering and picking up prescriptions, making phone calls, shopping for and sending gifts, wardrobe purchases, managing the cable and internet, and communicating with the groundskeeper, pool attendant, and other vendors.
The ability to troubleshoot problems with the internet, cable, and printer would be a plus. (This involves calling Spectrum or Best Buy and having customer service assist in fixing the problem.) Being savvy enough to get on the phone with the cable company to fix the TV/cable if it goes out is a must. :)
We should expect further care as he ages, so skills such as CPR are essential.
The client's schedule is roughly:
8 Wakes
8 - 10 Fixes and eats breakfast and cleans dishes
10-12 Keeps Self busy with personal interests
12 - 2 Cooks and Eats Lunch
2-4 Keeps self busy with personal interests, including much time relaxing on the patio
4 Retires to room for the evening
We lived together for over four years. I spent much of that time working in my online business, going to the gym, and doing things outside the home. I always ensured his needs were addressed first, and he insisted I have hobbies and interests outside the home. He enjoys the companionship of having someone around the house and the security of someone in the house at night. Easy conversation while each went about their day was the general flow. He will keep you busy running back and forth to the hardware store when he has a project.
He is an ex-businessman who is intelligent, thoughtful, and responsible. He is relatively quiet and mostly introspective. He keeps a very tight schedule; you will always know what to expect depending on the time of day.
His current personal assistant has been with him for over a year and is moving closer to family who recently moved to Florida.
We hope to find someone who feels this would be their long-term home. (He expects to live another ten years and, given his health, may do so.) The Villages offers plenty of opportunities to make new friends, and the endless recreational activities make it a very comfortable lifestyle for the right person.
Thank you.
