About the Role

Mack Law seeks a sharp, detail-oriented 2L, 3L, or recent graduate awaiting the Florida Bar for a part-time, remote paid internship. You’ll work directly with the attorney on active family law and civil litigation matters with heavy emphasis on discovery, motion practice, and drafting. While the work is remote, local to Orlando is required for occasional in-person meet-ups as needed. Strong mentorship is provided in both criminal and civil litigation, especially for those interested in starting their own firm.

Key Responsibilities

Draft and refine litigation documents: motions, notices, subpoenas duces tecum, interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.

Assist with mandatory disclosure (Fla. Fam. L. R. P. 12.285), interrogatories (12.340), and related discovery strategy.

Help prepare deposition outlines, cross-examination “trap sheets,” and topic lists (e.g., complex-income doctor/entrepreneur, financial tracing, business valuation).

Research and cite Florida statutes/rules, including §61.075 (equitable distribution), §61.16 (fees), Rule 12.363 (court-appointed experts), Rule 2.516 (e-service), and DUI/records issues (e.g., §395.3025 for medical records).

Draft professional letters and cover statements (e.g., authentication/certification issues for documents used domestically and abroad).

Assist with e-filing, calendaring deadlines, exhibit lists, and organized, court-ready formatting (clean numbering, tables, signature blocks).

Conduct targeted factual and legal research; summarize findings succinctly.

Qualifications

2L, 3L, or recent J.D. awaiting the Florida Bar; strong interest in family law and civil litigation.

Excellent legal research and writing, with meticulous proofreading and formatting skills (Word mastery is a must).

Comfortable drafting discovery (interogs/RFPs), motions to compel, and practitioner-style letters.

Self-starter who meets deadlines, communicates clearly, and maintains confidentiality.

Orlando-area residency (for occasional in-person meetings) with consistent remote availability (min. 10 hrs/week).

Familiarity with Westlaw/Lexis and the Florida e-Portal is a plus.
