News Operations Manager

WPEC CBS 12 News is looking for a News Operations Manager to join our leadership team in sunny West Palm Beach, FL.News Ops is responsible for oversight of photojounalists, directors and editors, as well as technical operations, motor pool, gear, and quality control.We're looking for someone who loves tech, hates sloppy work, wants to grow as a manager and is eager to put in the effort to help their people and this newsroom win!THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

Highly organized self-starter who can juggle multiple projects/responsibilities.

Solution-oriented - pointing out problems is the easy part.

Works well as a member of a team.

Able to lead and mentor staff with diverse technical responsibilities and experience levels.

Extensive practical knowledge of newsroom content management systems such as iNews, AVID, MediaCentral, CloudUX and LiveU.

Familiarity with and ability to teach/use/troubleshoot field gear, lighting, editing and transmission equipment.

Responsive to local and corporate priorities.

Comfortable with the unpredictable demands and schedule of news operations.

Pays keen attention to detail.

Minimum 5 years in a TV newsroom including supervisory experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Manage and oversee WPEC News technical operations.

Directly supervise directors, photographers and editors. Approve schedules/vacations, oversee and conduct training and write/approve annual performance reviews.

Participate in planning and execution of live field production, town halls, breaking news and other special events.

Collaborate with News Director and Director of Engineering on capital budget projects.

Manage news equipment maintenance, inventory and expenses.

Manage the news fleet, ensure vehicle records are maintained, gas cards and toll systems are up to date.

Ensure newscasts meet quality standards and offer constructive feedback to technical staff as needed.

Rotating weekend on-call schedule.
