Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.Job Summary:This is a position for a software Senior Engineer to develop Telematics on-board monitoring software used in Electronic Controller Module for Caterpillar machine & engine applications. We have a fabulous team that does some of the most exciting work at Caterpillar, and we can’t wait for you to join the teamWhat you will do:

Interact with the Telematics System team and other software development teams to define software requirement and validation details.

Provide upfront design approach guidance to all software feature work, conduct design and code review for software developed and support software technology and development strategy and roadmap development.

This position involves extensive interaction with Telematics systems engineers, and other software development teams globally.

Experience in embedded controls development for Telematics applications in heavy machinery or automotive industry to gather data and remotely monitoring assets.

Experience with GIT configuration management tool

Experience using Design Patterns in software development.

Experience with developing Unit Tests and Test-Driven Development

Experience with UML Tools like Rhapsody in developing designs through UML diagrams.

Experience using Linux and working in Ubuntu.

Provides effective technical solutions to routine functional challenges via sound technical competence, effectively examining implications of events and issues.

Effectively performs the technical job aspects, continuously building knowledge and keeping up to date on technical and procedural job components.

Applies technical operating and project standards based on achieving excellence in delivered products, technologies, and services.

Applies current procedures and technologies to help resolve technical issues in one's general area of technical competence.

Helps others solve technical or procedural problems or issues.

Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools, and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on software, application or operation.Level Working Knowledge:

Experience with CAN, J1939, TCP/IP and other data link protocols

Experience using CAN based tools like CANoe and CANalyzer

Discovers, analyzes, and resolves software or application problems.

Works with vendor-specific diagnostic guides, tools and utilities.

Analyzes code, logs, and current systems as part of advanced troubleshooting.

Records and reports specific technical problems.

Experience and Education requirement:

Requires a BSEE, BSCE, or BSCS

5-7 years of development experience using C (with emphasis on C11/14) programming languages

5-7 years of embedded software experience

5-7 Development experience using Object Oriented Design

5+ Experience working in a fast-paced, large, and global Agile team environment.
