Job Description: The Department of Physics and Astronomy at OHIO University is seeking applications for a Senior Postdoc Research Scientist.Position Summary:The scientist will be responsible for conducting research related to rare-earth based molecular systems adsorbed on metal surfaces using low temperature scanning tunneling microscopy. The scientist will also help oversee the work of junior postdocs and PhD students in lab experiments.Primary Accountabilities:

The scientist will be responsible for conducting research related to rare-earth based molecular systems adsorbed on metal surfaces using low temperature scanning tunneling microscopy and analyze research results using specialized software and equipment.

Write reports on research findings, write articles for scientific journals, and assist in writing research proposals for future grants.

The scientist will oversee, lead and guide graduate students on daily projects in the lab while also overseeing the inventory of supplies and submitting requests for purchases when supplies are low.

A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Physics, Materials Science, or related discipline by the start date of the position.

Minimum of three years of work-related experience required.

A strong experience in operating low-temperature ultrahigh vacuum ( UHV ) scanning tunneling microscopy, single molecule tunneling spectroscopy, and atomic/molecular manipulation schemes.

Experience in UHV sample preparation including thermal deposition of molecules onto atomically clean metal surfaces.

Experience in working with rare-earth complexes on materials surfaces.

Experience in supervision of graduate students for their research projects.
