Production Machine Maintenance Tech

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Performs all tasks associated with maintaining and improving the performance of production-related equipment and keeps it in a safe, working order. Completes scheduled maintenance and reliability improvement related projects, performs preventive maintenance, troubleshoots, and responds to equipment & machine problems with a high sense of urgency. Maintains, modifies and completes set-ups, improvements, resolves mechanical and electrical problems on production machines. Applies team principles, vision, and mission statement. Constantly looks for ways to improve the performance of production equipment as part of everyday responsibilities. Must be willing to work (shift hours not determined yet) and any necessary overtime.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Install, troubleshoot and repair electrical circuitry and electronic components. (preferred)

2. Able to understand PLC logic and use computer control programs to troubleshoot and improve machine performance. (preferred)

3. Ability to perform routine mechanical repairs (bearing replacements, gearbox rebuilds, coupling alignments, pump repairs)

4. Assists with the training of machine operators in basic technical functions.

5. Maintains machine electrical integrity and ensures that all is up to code and safe.

6. Assists operators with daily set-ups and duties as a key member of the maintenance team.

7. Assists outside contractors in troubleshooting & rebuilding machinery and performs preventive maintenance as directed.

8. Assists in the installation of new production equipment.

9. Actively evaluates parts room for inventory and takes the necessary action to ensure proper parts availability for assigned work.

10. Adheres to Company policies, procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Standard Operating Practices.

11. Weld, fabricate, machine, repair and install parts as necessary. (preferred)

12. Supports machine operators and Team Leaders as necessary to ensure efficient facility operations.

13. Maintains shop tools in good repair and ensures they are stored in their proper place.

14. Assists Sanitation in the assembly & disassembly of equipment as necessary.

15. Completes the appropriate and required record keeping (work logs, PM lists, process parameter checks, etc).

16. Other duties as assigned by maintenance manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

1. Must be able to work effectively with all employees and management with minimum supervision.

2. Proven mechanical and electrical skills, with minimum 3-5 years experience in the food processing/packaging industry. (preferred)

3. Must have a good understanding of initial setup, troubleshooting, and repairing variable frequency drives (VFD).

4. Must supply and maintain in good repair a set of standard and metric multi-purpose tools.

5. Must be able to work extended hours and weekend shifts as required

6. Must follow all O.S.H.A. and Company safety rules and have demonstrated the ability to work in a similar environment without injury

7. Must read schematics, use electrical test equipment and have a working knowledge of electrical codes.

8. Must have and actively pursue a good command of verbal & written workplace English skills.

9. Must be able to perform the essential job requirements with reasonable accommodation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

1. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to effectively respond to frequent interruptions.

2. Must be able to bend, lift, stand, stoop, climb, and move in a safe and alert manner.

3. Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs. in a safe manner.
