Seeking Traveling Field IT Technicians

Expected Pay Range: $300/day when traveling. Plus $55/day per diem and H&W.

Summary and Scope

A Field Technician - IT will travel to contract job sites as directed and is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and breaking down temporary facilities. The duties include but are not limited to performing plumbing, carpentry, basic electrical, general IT installation, IT configuration, troubleshooting, administrative, laundry facilities upkeep, and ground maintenance tasks to ensure a safe and efficient job site.

Essential Functions

Install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain DR equipment.

Install, troubleshoot, configure, and maintain IT Equipment including Alarm Systems, Video Surveillance Systems, Switches, Battery Backups, Access Points, etc.

Install, maintain, and terminate cabling, including CAT6 and fiber.

Install, troubleshoot and maintain site equipment including Sanitrax, vac systems, pumps, etc.

Perform general maintenance functions for electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems.

Perform ground maintenance and limited site work tasks as needed.

Perform equipment operation onsite as required (training will be provided).

Perform daily/scheduled maintenance checks and services on government equipment, company trucks and equipment.

Operate site equipment to include but not limited to forklifts, tractors, work carts, yard maintenance equipment, skid steers (training will be provided).

Assist with maintenance of water and wastewater systems on project site.

Repair company equipment as needed to maintain serviceable condition.

Mounting and securing telecommunications equipment such as switches, routers, and patch panels.

Testing and troubleshooting network connections to identify and resolve issues.

Conducting site surveys to assess telecommunications infrastructure needs.

Collaborating with other team members to design and implement telecommunications solutions.

Documenting all installations, repairs, and maintenance activities accurately.

Adhering to safety protocols and regulations while working in various environments.

Providing technical support and assistance to end-users as needed.

Keeping abreast of advancements in telecommunications technology and best practices.

Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Specifications

Basic mechanical skills.

General IT/IT infrastructure installation, configuration, and troubleshooting skills.

General knowledge of cabling and termination best practices.

Knowledge of and ability to operate basic hand and power tools.

Great organizational skills.

General knowledge of safe working practices.

Ability to read and interpret owner’s manuals, equipment schematics and work orders.

Ability to speak, read, and write English.

Have a clean driving record (able to drive company vehicles).

Basic understanding of Microsoft Office and other basic computer skills.

Required Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.

Must be at least 21 years of age.

1+ year experience in a maintenance position is required.

1+ year IT installation, configuration, and troubleshooting is required.

Experience splicing fiber optic cable is preferred.

Experience with VSS set up and configuration is preferred.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, see, hear, stand, walk, bend, twist, kneel, climb, engage in repetitive motions, and use hands and fingers to manipulate objects, tools, or controls. May routinely and repetitively lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted (or heavier with the use of proper equipment and procedures). 

Expected Hours of Work

This work is performed on an as-needed basis, and hours vary depending on contract needs. The ability to work flexible hours including nights, holidays, and weekends will be required based on contract needs. It is expected for this position to attend regular meetings during typical work hours in Eastern Standard Time as well as meetings as needed for assigned projects in other time zones. Flexibility is required of all candidates for both scheduling and duties assigned.

Work Environment

This job operates in field environments. We operate 24/7/365, inside and outside, in all weather conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, hand tools, site equipment and vehicles, and is required to use and wear standard PPE, which will be provided by the company. There is an expectation of clear communication in English both written and orally.

Travel

This position requires up to 100% travel. Travel is dependent on contract load. The ability to travel to job sites and be away for extended periods of time based on contract needs is required. Short notice travel is required with 24-48 hours’ notice.

Work Authorization

Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Must be able to travel within the Continental United States (CONUS).

Must pass a drug test, motor vehicle record check, occupational health physical and lift test (if applicable), credit check (if applicable), and a background check upon accepting a conditional offer of employment.

Must possess a valid driver's license. Have/maintain a clean driving record.
