Skilled Porsche or German Car Mechanic

Privately owned, high end Porsche auto service and restoration center seeks a mechanic for a full time position. We are seeking an individual that knows cars, not someone that relies on a scan tool for answers. A lot of our work is with pre-1995 vehicles and we need someone that can diagnose and repair the old fashioned way. We are not looking for someone that just swaps parts.

Duties and responsibilities:

1. Diagnose issues with gas engine cars. Issues include all mechanical and electrical systems of an automobile and also fit and finish.

2. Repair or replace broken, worn, or damaged mechanical or electrical components.

3. Accurately document repair and service records.

4. Test vehicles both before and after repair.

5. Communicate findings and recommendations to manager to obtain customer authorization for repairs.

6. Must maintain the cleanliness of your work area and bay. Must also help keep the entire shop clean and organized.

7. Must adhere to company policies, OSHA, and safety regulations.

8. Work must be meticulous and clean and you must maintain a high level of accuracy. Many of the cars we work on are collectibles and must be repaired to factory and concourse standards.

9. Must perform other duties as directed or required.

Qualifications, skills, and abilities:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. General knowledge of basic topics such as math, reading, comprehension, basic accounting, typing, etc… Must be able to comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Must have the ability to communicate effectively and present information to peers, supervisors, and customers. Must be able to use various tools to investigate and problem solve.

3. You should be familiar with vehicle systems components and how they interact with one another. You should know cause and effect of different vehicle systems. For instance, you should know what components might cause a low idle situation and take the necessary steps in the proper order to correct the situation.

4. You should also be familiar with modern technologies such as using a scan tool as we also work on newer vehicles from time to time.

5. Must have a strong work ethic, be able to work independently, and also be a team player.

6. Must have reliable transportation to work, be punctual, and adhere to the attendance policy.

7. Must have a clean driving record.

8. Specialized tools are available in the shop but you must have your own basic tools.

Schedule is Monday through Friday 9:00 am until 6:00 pm with one hour for lunch.
