All while understanding that together we are even better.Schedule: Full-timeShift : DaysLocation: AdventHealth - Chatsworth, 30705The role you’ll contribute:The assistant laboratory manager is responsible for assessing, planning, coordinating and maintaining the daily workflow of laboratory testing to ensure continuity of care with quality results. The assistant manager demonstrates skills and knowledge in the management of all areas of the laboratory in which patient care is provided to all patient's type including neonate, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric. The assistant manager is able to work independently and in a team environment in all areas of the laboratory. The assistant manager will assume Director responsibilities in the Directors absence. The assistant manager will help manage and maintain shift assignments, precept new employees, provide education to staff and ancillary departments and help maintain employee documentation and records.The value you’ll bring to the team:Leadership:

Performs cost analysis and revises procedure and instrumentation to ensure cost containment. Analyzes new technology and recommends changes in the section as needed.

Oversees the implementation of new equipment including validation, calibration, correlation studies, training of staff, and other required activities

Supervises the entire laboratory including histology in the absence of the Laboratory Director when assigned

On call as needed. Call is shared among other techs as well.

Acts and assumes authority as the director in the absence of the director

Supervision:

Reviews quality controls results, resolves problems detected and documents actions taken. Reviews QC monthly with the pathologist as necessary

Maintains standard operating procedures. Creates, revises and reviews procedures as required

Maintains all appropriate records according to accreditation agency standards. Assists and coordinates with inspections

Coordinates and reviews proficiency testing prior to reporting results to the surveying agency. Reviews results and responds to any problem as necessary

Implements policies to maintain efficient utilization of personnel, materials and equipment to contain costs.

Maintains laboratory participation in a QAP program(s) to meet all state and federal guidelines

Responsible for supply requisition and inventory control

Responsible for the orientation of new employees, staff development, evaluation and documentation of competency of personnel rotating through the section

Discusses test results and technical issues with physicians and ancillary personnel as requested

Point of Care Coordinator and maintains accreditations.

Technical:

Perform testing within the approved guidelines to meet turnaround time standards and maintain quality patient care

Reviews test results for critical results, delta results and corrections of all lab results. Resolves problems detected and counsels the technical staff as needed

Demonstrates competency in the performance of laboratory procedures as they relate to specific age groups (neonate, child, adolescent, adult, geriatric)

Performs all duties of a staff level Medical Technologist

Maintains required licenses and required certifications

Laboratory Information System (LIS):

Supervises Tests the LIS and documents testing on all software upgrades

Creates and maintains instrument and hospital information system interfaces and builds all new tests in the LIS

Build and implement new LIS systems.

QualificationsThe expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :Minimum qualifications:

Associate or Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, biology, chemistry, or related science preferred.

1 year of approved clinical laboratory experience

Five years of approved clinical laboratory experience with progressive growth of leadership experience.

ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB or any other nationally recognized certification agency preferred.

Mathematical, computer reasoning, and language skills at the college level (2 years )

Computers, telephone, fax, copier, printers, chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, blood bank and microbiology analyzers, glucometers, incubators, environmental hood, monitored refrigerators & freezers, centrifuges, phlebotomy chairs and supplies.
