Measures the effectiveness of quality standards for processes, materials, and products through the application of standards, inspection methods, testing, and sampling procedures.
Applies programs which evaluate precision and accuracy of production, testing, measurement and analytic equipment. Responsible for recording and reporting quality and reliability of data.
Oversees the disposition of discrepant material and related recordkeeping for the facility.
May be required to perform part layout.
Functions as the customer representative at the facility for manufacturing process and serves as the voice of the customer in manufacturing and decision making.
May oversee document, record, and QMS administration.
Empowered to initiate corrective actions when problems which impact the quality of the product and/or quality system are identified.
Works with suppliers to insure adherence to quality standards
Requirements and qualifications:
Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment with increasing levels of responsibility
Knowledgeable in quality assurance disciplines.
Proficient in quality systems and their application.
Proficient in IATF process systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills.
Working knowledge of computer systems and working in a team-based culture.
Experience in machining, inspection, layout, gauging, and coordinate measuring machine programming is preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Quality Technicians
Any third-party sorting employees when sort is the result of a Supplier issue.
Educational requirements:
Bachelors degree in engineering, quality mgmt systems or equivalent or equivalent work experience
Six Sigma Greenbelt certification preferred.
Work Conditions:
Most work conducted in an office environment with moderate noise levels.
To get to office one is required to walk through manufacturing area that requires hearing protection, safety glasses and steel toed shoes.
Occasional overtime may be required when there is an issue with a supplier
Physical Demands:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about the office to access office equipment, attend meetings etc. Also, this person needs to move about the manufacturing floor to collect samples.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
Occasionally moves parts weighing up to 30 pounds from manufacturing area to Quality area.
