Description We are in search of an Assistant Controller to join our team in the import/export industry based in Savannah, Georgia. This role involves managing all aspects of the accounting department under the supervision of the Controller. The Assistant Controller will be responsible for developing accounting policies, managing financial reports, performing financial analysis, and overseeing payroll processes, among other duties.Responsibilities: Develop accounting policies in compliance with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) Manage the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports in accordance with GASB Conduct financial analysis of operating results against previous periods and budgets Oversee payroll team and processes in collaboration with Human Resources Manage accounts payable and weekly payment processes Maintain accounting records and comply with all reporting requirements for federal, state, and local grants Approve/review journal entries, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations Coordinate and manage external audits and be responsible for the timely production of the annual audited financial statements Support the development of the annual operating, cash, and capital budgets Maintain the proper environment of ethics, quality, and integrity in the Finance Division Improve processes and create efficiencies within the department Provide financial input, counsel, guidance, and technical assistance to other Divisions and Staff as required Requirements Must have a minimum of 7 years of experience in the field of import/export Proficiency in using Accounting Software Systems is essential Experience with ADP - Financial Services is required Familiarity with Concur software is beneficial Ability to generate and interpret Crystal Reports is necessary Knowledge of DCAA regulations and compliance is expected Must be skilled in all Accounting Functions, including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Prior experience in Auditing is beneficial Must have a strong understanding of Billing Functions Bachelor's or higher degree in Finance, Business, or related field is preferred Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are necessary Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required Ability to multitask and handle multiple projects simultaneously is expected Must have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is necessary Must be able to work well in a team-oriented environment Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
