Lead Teacher

Primary Purpose: Lead the teaching team in preparing and implementing a developmentally appropriate and culturally rich virtual curriculum for a Family Child Interaction Learning (FCIL) program.

Essential Duties:

● Lead and support the teaching team with proper setup and breakdown of site equipment and materials, implementing lesson plans, completing home visits, scheduling monthly field trips, and submitting all reports by expected deadlines;

● Model, teach and engage with enrolled families in a professional manner that encourages caregivers to be their keikiʻs first and foremost teacher;

● Help review screenings and assessments that support the developmental needs of participating keiki and caregivers;

● Facilitate team meetings that create high-quality, culturally appropriate lesson plans for keiki ages birth-five years old;

● Record and submit debrief sessions with the team;

● Develop daily work routines that support productive and positive team dynamics;

● Participate in regular briefings with the Site Manager to discuss program updates, challenges, and proposed solutions;

● Drive assigned company vehicles in a safe and legal manner.

Other Duties: Other duties as assigned include, but are not limited to, completing all forms and documentation such as reports related to grant objectives, professional development evaluations, and data collection for the program.

Work Hours:

● A 10-month work schedule that closely aligns with the Hawai'i Department of Education's paid leave calendar;

● Monday through Friday, hours vary by site and are determined by the Site Manager;

● Consistent and reliable attendance;

● Some events and professional development may take place on evenings or weekends.

Working Conditions:

● Office setting and program sites;

● Travel in program vehicle to and from program site;

● Travel to the neighbor islands and continental U.S. may be required.

Equipment Use: Program vehicle, office equipment (computer, printer, copier, scanner, bluetooth, laminator, shredder), site and facility equipment.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

REQUIRED:

● Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field and six (6) months of experience working with keiki ages birth through five and their families; OR

● Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field and one (1) year of supervised experience working with keiki ages birth through five and their families; OR

● Current Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential and one (1) year of supervised experience working with keiki ages birth through five and their families;

● Must have a valid driver's license and a safe and responsible driving record.

PREFERRED:

● Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Canva publishing, and virtual meeting platforms;

● Able to troubleshoot computer and internet connectivity issues and assist caregivers when they experience issues;

● Familiarity with databases such as QuickBase;

● Knowledge and understanding of Hawaiian culture and values.
