Satori is a highly rated sushi food truck in Makawao specializing in serving local fish and farm to table dishes. We are hiring for our Poke Monday shift. The shift is worked solo every Monday from around 9:30-5, depending on the amount of prep and closing tasks. We are open that day from 12-4pm.
This is a unique shift different from the other days that feature our full sushi menu. The purpose of Poke Mondays is for us to be open on Mondays and serve a simpler menu allowing the chef to serve food while also doing certain prep projects for the week such as chopping vegetables, making sauces, and cleaning the kitchen.
The shift pay is $20 per hour plus tips making an average of around $260 per day depending on the season.
We have a strong team that enjoys serving the community and having a good work/life balance. We are looking for someone that fits the criteria below:
The following are requirements to apply:
- knife skills. Must be able to fill pans of skillfully chopped and julienned vegetables using a knife or mandolin in time.
- excellent customer service and communication skills. At least 2 years experience. You will have to handle the pressure of taking orders, making orders, and sending them out simultaneously, while fielding questions from customers and remaining polite and helpful during all that. It is not for everyone but for someone with that multi-tasking skillset it is very rewarding and fun.
- chef experience of 2 years or culinary school training
- healthy lifestyle: sober mindset, interest in quality, healthy food and cooking. We will not hire anyone with current drug or alcohol habits.
- Commitment and reliability: Plans to stay on island long term, punctuality, reliability.
- Cleanliness: must be able to clean a kitchen properly and thoroughly. Monday shift involves a small amount of extra cleaning for the week.
- Reliable transportation and phone service from home.
- Resume with at least 2 positive food service references.
- Must be able to follow instructions and recreate recipes exactly how taught.
- Positive attitude: The job can be challenging on busy days and it is needed to be able to handle an entire food truck on your own.
