Sleep Technician - Overnight Shift

Looking for an overnight (graveyard shift) job? Sleep Center Hawaii is currently seeking applicants to fill Part-Time Sleep Technician positions in our Kona location. Medical experience is a plus, but not required. Experienced & Entry Level positions available. CURRENT CPSGT/RPSGT IS REQUIRED TO QUALIFY AS NON-ENTRY LEVEL. A Polysomnographic Technician (Sleep Tech) performs comprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis, and associated interventions under the general direction of a Senior or Lead Technician, Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) and/or the clinical director (MD, PhD, DO) or designee.

Entry Level/Trainee Prerequisites & Requirements:

Possess a high school diploma or equivalent

Must be CPR certified (scheduled class within the first week of starting)

Complete HIPAA online course

Agree to background check

Agree to Volunteer night

Read and Agree to Employee Handbook

Must be a team player and demonstrate an excellent work ethic

Work 1 to 4 nights per week

3-month probation period

Must learn how to successfully perform the following during the training period:

Gather and analyze patient information

Collect Co-pay

Testing preparation procedures

Polysomnographic procedures

Recognize Sleep Stages and respiratory events

Service Management and Professionalism

Experienced Sleep Tech Prerequisite & Requirements:

Must work well with patients

Maintain current CPR or BCLS certification

Must be a team player and demonstrate an excellent work ethic

Must be competent enough to perform without supervision

Work 1 to 4 nights per week

3-month probation period

Have Current Credentials (CPSGT/RPSGT)

Must be able to successfully perform the following:

Collect Co-pay

Gather and analyze patient information

Verify the medical order and protocol

Complete and verify documentation

Explain the procedure and orient the patient to the sleep center

Testing preparation procedures

Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning

Apply electrodes and sensors according to AASM standards

Perform appropriate physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals

Perform routine positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting

Positive Airway Pressure & Oxygen Therapy for Sleep Related Breathing Disorders (PAP only)

Follow company polysomnographic procedures:

Follow procedural protocols (such as Diagnostic Sleep Study, Split Night, Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, EEG, PAP and oxygen titration, etc.) to ensure collection of appropriate data

Perform polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact free and make adjustments, if necessary

Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results

Implement appropriate interventions (including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as continuous and bi-level positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc.)

Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age specific care in the treatment, assessment, and education of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients

Score Sleep Stages and respiratory events

Service Management and Professionalism

Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues

Proficient in equipment care and maintenance

Demonstrate effective written and spoken communication skills. Demonstrate ability to follow direction

Demonstrate appropriate social skills
