Pay Rate: $17.00/hour

Schedule: Varies Monday–Friday / 7am-4pm (with 1-hour lunch)

Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

- To perform a wide variety of landscape maintenance functions related to but not limited to mowing, trimming, irrigation, edging, pruning and landscape maintenance.

- To perform an efficient method of operations on multiple assigned production unit

- Responsible to ensure that all grounds maintenance contract work is accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner. Thoroughly understands and support the company goals and objectives. Set a good example for clients and staff to follow and abide company policies and procedures. (e.g.: punctuality, good attendance, having a mature and professional attitude, etc.)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Understands all specifications and requirements in the Grounds Statement of Work (SOW) Contract and is able to accomplish all work required ensuring that contract's quality standards and schedules are met.

- Duties include, but not limited to, maintenance of large areas through string trimming, mowing, hedge and tree punning (10) feet and under, hand weeding, cleaning/removing litter and debris, basic irrigation maintenance and repair. Operates string trimmers, mowers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and other manual and powered grounds maintenance general use equipment.

- Proper use of various hand tools such as various type of shovel, rakes, pruners, pitchfork, pole saw, etc. to care for the ornamental plants and planter beds.

- Controls and maintains inventories of basic supplies, tools and equipment to ensure that services are provided according to the contract.

- Informs the site supervisor or Manager when tools and supplies are needed.

- When equipment maintenance/repairs are required.

- Required to maintain cleanliness of equipment

- Keep work area clean, pickup discarded or used supplies.

- Plans work required to support contract requirements on weekends or holidays or when necessary.

- Requests supplies and assists with required reports when necessary.

- Demonstrate the company’s values of teamwork, excellence, achievement, motivation, and company in all personal interactions with others.

MAINTENANCE AND SAFEGUARDS OF AREAS, SUPPLIES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

- Is responsible for the daily control of supplies, tools and equipment assigned to the JWOD contract. Sets up proper safeguards and follow-up procedures.

- Inspects and services all equipment used and keeps all tools and equipment secured in their proper places after each workday.

- Is responsible for proper security, care, and service of the assigned vehicle. Promptly reports accidents or incidents verbally and prepares necessary reports and submits them to the Manager within 24 hours of any accident/incident.

- Is responsible for safeguarding the key for the vehicle. Ensures that the vehicle is properly parked and secured.

- Is responsible for daily vehicle inspection, daily mileage log prior to use.

- Assists in planning and implementing general cleaning of all vehicles at regular intervals.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

- Knows or acquires orientation/training on how to deal with assigned clients' physical or mental emergencies.

- Maintains first aid kits in the work areas and assigned vehicle.

- Ensures that all staff knows the locations to report to in case of an emergency and or a disaster.

- Responsible for reporting of accidents/injuries to the site supervisor or manager immediately after staff/client has been attended to.

- Ensures OSHA, Federal, State and company safety guidelines are met and enforced.

OTHER DUTIES

- Performs other duties as required.

- Attends training sessions/classes as mandated by organizational policy/goals and/or as recommended by Supervisor, Manager, and Director/President

EQUIPMENT USE & SAFETY

- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be issued and required to be used at all times.

- You are responsible to maintain and clean all equipment used; any damaged equipment must be reported to supervisor or manager immediately.

- Assignment may include use of: Assigned company vehicle grounds maintenance equipment.

- Clean, service and secure all equipment used.

- Close and lock all doors at the end of each day ensuring that all persons have left the premises.

- Removes all fire and safety hazards includes litter, chemicals in the work and storage area.

- Has the ability to safely use and operate a fire extinguisher.

- Must maintain service and report all equipment safety guards on all power equipment including riding mowers, tractors etc.

- All missing or damaged equipment must be reported to supervisor or manager as soon known.

- Practices, reinforces, and ensures that all safety procedures and practices are followed and enforced.

- Reports all accidents/injuries to the site supervisor or manager immediately. Type of equipment used; Utility van, pick-up trucks, self-propelled and/or non-self-propelled lawn mowers, riding mower, woodchipper, and if properly licensed, tractor with various attachments. Chainsaws, string trimmers, power blower, hedge trimmers, water & fire hoses, sprinkler cannons, common hand and power tools, shovels, and telephone.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid condition.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Standing, Walking, Balancing, stooping kneeling, crouching, and /or squatting, Handling/Push/Pull (working with hands, arms, or fingers), Lifting /Carrying at least 50lbs. unassisted, Seeing clearly (20 feet or more), Talking, and Hearing

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- Ability to follow/understand verbal, written, or visual instructions.

- Ability to report to work as scheduled.

- Must be able to work on weekends and holidays as required to meet contract requirements.

- Preferred: Related work experience.

- Preferred: Driver license and clean driving abstract.
