Ohana Law Firm is looking to expand our law practice located in Hilo. We currently have an Attorney opening within our busy Family Law and Civil divisions. Our firm covers practice areas including Blockchain Law, Business Law, Civil Litigation, Family Law, Real Estate Litigation, and Trusts and Estates. Remote work is optional with mandatory physical court appearances in both Hilo and Kona.
Attorney Qualifications and Responsibilities
The Attorney should have strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, excellent research and writing skills, and experience in drafting motions, pleadings, letters, and other documents.
Ability to manage a case load and work with clients from intake through resolution.
The Attorney will make court appearances independently and handle various hearings on behalf of clients.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-pressure environment, to prioritize client matters and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent.
Coordinating the work of other staff necessary to perform assigned responsibilities and may participate in the training of other personnel.
Managing complex matters of difficulty, with the expectation of producing favorable results.
Prepares for and completes cases, projects and presentations and other assignments of a complex nature.
Adequate, effective, and timely preparation, presentation, and completion of investigations, cases, and/or legal projects assigned.
Responsible for keeping informed and assures that subordinate staff is informed concerning the applicable law, rules, procedures, policies, and practices relating to their function.
Provides legal advice, counsel, and other legal services.
Intake inquiry review and analysis.
Legal research and writing.
Drafting motions, pleadings, letters, and other documents.
Principles of effective work coordination, time management and strong case/project management.
General email and correspondence answering & management.
Rules of evidence and conduct of proceedings in trial and appellate courts in Hawaii.
Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing the practice of law in the State of Hawaii.
Insurable and licensed to practice in Hawaii.
No pending disciplinary counsel complaints or prior disciplinary actions in any jurisdiction.
This position does not require you to reside in Hilo or Kona. We are open to hiring candidates who live on any of the Hawaiian Islands with the understanding that travel for court appearances is required. Travel expenses will be paid by the firm. As a primarily remote firm it is essential our Attorney maintains effective communication with our other Attorneys, support staff, opposing counsel and clients.
