Human Performance Improvement Specialist

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Human Performance Improvement Specialist to work in our Environment, Safety, Health and Quality (ESH&Q) department. Our team works onsite with a 9x80 schedule located out of our Willow Creek Building in Idaho Falls, Idaho or as assigned with every other Friday off.You will apply concepts, policies, procedures, principles, and performance models for reducing human error. Identify performance in the organization, find the causes for performance deficiencies, implement solutions, and evaluate results. Conduct Human Performance Improvement (HPI) investigations by collecting human performance data from direct observations of work activities, risk assessments, and databases. Create and track HPI goals. Provide HPI workforce training for education across organizations. You will report to the Chief Operations Officer for ESH&QResponsibilities Include:

Use HPI expertise to integrate human performance improvement (HPI) principles, theories, and concepts into BEA’s culture/ systems/programs/activities/tools laboratory wide.

Create and manage HPI goals as well as ensure goals are met through tracking mechanisms.

Interface with management and employees; apply practitioner skills and HPI knowledge, and complete actions.

Provide support to organizational INL HPI practitioners in coordinating assessments, training and investigations among various mission and support organizations of the Laboratory. Coordinate and arrange the HPI working team meetings.

Work closely with other HPI practitioners’ and HPI SMEs' to ensure clear execution and communication of needed HPI services.

Support HPI practitioners on scheduling, establishing deliverables dates, establishing schedules, arranging assessments, reviews, and training. Produce accurate reporting of program status. Develop presentations, work on strategy with the HPI Leads.

Conduct and review HPI investigations and provide context to events or process changes. Examine events thoroughly and identify any gaps. Share results with customers and management.

Ensure HPI lesson plans are current, training is revised and complete documentation. Provide training to employees on HPI fundamentals.

Mentor junior staff and look for opportunities to involve them in current projects.

Minimum Requirements:

Level 3: Bachelor’s and 5 years relevant experience or a Master’s and 2 years relevant experience. In Lieu of degree 11 years of relevant experience (Relevant experience includes human performance program operations, process improvement, change management, injury and illness reduction, human and orgainzational processes)

Level 4: Bachelor’s and 9 years relevant experience or Master’s and 6 years relevant experience. In Lieu of degree 15 years of relevant experience

Must be a US Citizen and obtain and maintain a DOE “L” clearance. May be required to obtain and maintain additional security clearance level of Human Reliability Program (HRP) certification.

Job Information:

The pay range for this position is: Level #3 ($91,008 - $186,588) / Level #4 ($109,260 - $223,908 ). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.

Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
