JOB SUMMARY The Certified Nursing Assistant partners with our residents and other care providers to create a safe and comfortable therapeutic environment by providing direct and indirect care. 3 East is a 31-bed specialized unit, working with Alzheimer's/dementia residents, and tailoring care to meet their needs. Key aspects of this unit are the use of both verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, understanding the difficult behaviors that are sometimes associated with residents that have Alzheimer's/Dementia, as well as understanding that these behaviors can be valid communications . It provides needed care to those residents needing long-term placement in a home-like environment. JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION
Graduate of Maine State Board-approved CNA course
Valid on the State of Maine CNA registry
EXPERIENCE
1–3 years previous CNA experience preferred
Will consider new CNAs with relevant work experience
OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED
Medical terminology preferred
Strong teamwork and communication skills are required.
The ability to work well within a team of other care providers
Flexibility required to coverage 24 hours/day, 7 days per week
Flexibility to float to other units as needed
