Accounting Manager/Supervisor

Description The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for supervising the accounting function, including reviewing, and performing a variety of technical accounting duties involved in executing responsible financial record keeping and the related reporting duties. Reviewing and participating in the establishment and maintenance of procedures to ensure accurate and complete reporting of financial transactions, performing analysis of financial and budgetary matters, including reviewing, and approving various accounting transactions and reports of assigned areas are also expectations of the role.Roles and Responsibilities: Supervise the accounting function, including management and maintenance of data and other appropriate records for the preparation of various financial, budgetary, analytical, and tax reports. Maintain and prepare a variety of detailed financial, accounting, analytical, and reporting statements, analysis, documents, and other ad hoc reports. Supervise, review, analyze, and reconcile a variety of accounting, reporting, and financial records, ledgers (general and sub-ledgers), and files to ensure accurate and complete reporting of data. Ability to analyze and resolve discrepancies and correct errors of assigned areas. Aid or perform technical accounting research to implement new or modify existing accounting standards or processes by making recommendations for the reporting of accounting transactions both internally and externally. Assist with the development of procedures and proposes changes to processes performed within the accounting system. Respond to problems and inquiries from accounting staff or accounting system users by performing research to understand the underlying problem, tracing the issue to its cause, and providing a solutions-based approach to resolve the matter.2 Supervise year-end closing activities, including working with external auditors and tax consultants. Assist with quarterly board reports and analytics, annual budget, and quarterly analysis, including compilation of the annual external financial statements. Maintain current knowledge level of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other applicable accounting standards. Promote a positive image of the organization when handling vendor or staff matters by treating each individual with respect and resolving their concerns in a professional manner. Ability to handle sensitive and extensive confidential information. Adhere to office work arrangements, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the department deadlines, roles, and responsibilities, etc. Complete duties and responsibilities in compliance with company and accounting standards, policies, and guidelines. Contribute to the overall success of the department by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned. Requirements Required qualifications and skills: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 1-2 years of supervisory or management experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Excellent communications skills, including both written and verbal Excellent project management and organizational skills Preferred qualifications and skills: CPA preferred, but not required Experience in tax accounting Experience in insurance Travel: Minimal travel is required for this position.
