Description We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Network Engineer in the Education - University industry, located in Chicago, Illinois. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and security.Responsibilities: Design, implement, and manage network infrastructure using Cisco technologies Maintain network hardware and software, including servers, peripherals, network nodes, and terminals Employ Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) to manage inter-domain routing and to maintain network connectivity Ensure network security through proper configuration and management of Cisco ASA firewalls Utilize Checkpoint solutions for further network protection and intrusion detection Conduct AB Testing to optimize network performance and user experience Manage and troubleshoot network issues related to computer hardware Implement Configuration Management protocols to handle changes systematically to maintain system integrity Oversee data center operations related to network functionality Handle network deployments, including the installation of routers, switches, other hardware, and software. Requirements Demonstrated proficiency in Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) Solid experience with Checkpoint Proficiency in Cisco ASA Experience in managing Cisco Routers Experience in Configuration Management Familiarity with Datacenter Proven experience in Deployments Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and in a team Must be able to work flexible hours when required Commitment to continuous learning and detail oriented development.
