The Permit Specialist is accountable for all zoning and permitting activities, including researching, contacting jurisdictions, completing and submitting permit applications along with all required documentation to obtain all required zoning approvals and permits for each project's scope of work.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Strong ability to effectively communicate with jurisdictions and develop relationships with various jurisdictions
Ability to research and evaluate telecommunication requirements in local zoning and permitting ordinances
Update and compile zoning trackers with research information of zoning and permitting requirements in each jurisdiction
Maintain site updates on zoning and permitting in Master Tracker
Package and ship applications
Track application submittals to jurisdictions
Scan and Upload Documents to Customer Database
Follow up with Jurisdictions on Permit and Zoning Approvals
Identification of permitted use areas, difficult jurisdictions, filing deadlines, approval time frames, application requirements and zoning codes.
Perform review of zoning and construction drawings to verify they comply with the zoning codes and design requirements.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Skills and Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
College degree or equivalent experience preferred
Experience in Zoning or Urban Planning a plus
Strong attention to detail
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Above average organizational skills
Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Business skills should include excellent negotiation skills, strong customer orientation, excellent conflict management skills, excellent analytical & problem solving capability, excellent communication skills both oral and written, a strong business minded consultative approach with focus on profitability & margin.
Must have the ability and be willing to travel, as required, for job related functions.
