What You Will Do:
Lead projects with diverse team base to automate and optimize packaging operations
Evaluate and enable new automation equipment that meet product protection and operational requirements
Analyze large data sets to determine cost / benefit impacts on material and labor
Review equipment/material specifications for automation equipment for viability within the Cat Parts Network
Drive internal and external packaging spec changes where feasible to enable greater automation adoption
Researching packaging materials, automation technologies and machinery, and reporting the results regularly

Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Engineering, or technical field experience working as a Packaging Engineer in industrial applications and/or related supply chain, logistics or engineering roles.

Warehousing Application Systems: Knowledge of company and industry databases and applications used in a warehouse environment; ability to navigate and integrate solutions to these systems.
Operational Safety: Knowledge of operational safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.Promotes workplace safety among supervisors and workers; communicates safety rules and regulations.Assesses and reports unusual or new safety hazards or violations; initiates corrective action.Ensures that all employees and contractors comply with relevant safety policies and regulations.
Packaging: Knowledge of packaging tools, approaches and practices; ability to package products and components safely and attractively.
Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.Evaluates business impact of failure and the criticality and timing of needed resolution.Resolves difficult or high-impact equipment and systems problems.Monitors machine performance and history; addresses excessive maintenance or repair needs.Coaches others how to resolve integration or communications problems in multi-vendorenvironment.Applies specific techniques for isolating a problem and defining resolution approach.Uses advanced diagnostic techniques and tools for unusual or performance-related problems.
