Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM):Our mission is to implement federal and state regulations to protect human health and the environment while allowing the environmentally sound operations of industrial, agricultural, commercial, and governmental activities vital to a prosperous economy. We issue air, water, and solid and hazardous waste permits that restrict discharges to environmentally safe levels. Staff members inspect and monitor regulated entities; provide compliance and technical assistance; monitor and assess air, land, and water quality; use enforcement actions as necessary to ensure compliance; and respond to incidents involving spills to soil or waters of the state. Salary Statement: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. Role Overview: This position is for the Team Lead. They will need a good knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials for AR. They will support the Accounts Receivable Supervisor in whatever duties are deemed necessary. They will be responsible for processing credits and credits rebills, approving accounting entries and monitoring PeopleSoft transactions. This position will also be responsible for applying all payments approved by TOS and assisting with the collection process currently under way in the agency. This position will be able to assist all other team members when absences occur and assist when the workload is heavy. They will be responsible for creating billing for State Cleanup and Superfund. IDEM is the largest agency using the PeopleSoft Billing module, so we assist other agencies when requested. A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows:

Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records financial reports to assess compliance with procedural standards.

Maintain or examine the records of government agencies.

Advise the appointing authority and/or controller of the status of all accounts.

Develop policies and procedures for general accounting and bookkeeping.

Oversee usage of the computerized accounting system.

Establish work methods and control measures for accounting/bookkeeping functions.

Certify the accuracy of the agency’s financial records and accounts.

Review reports for grant reconciliation for grant funded accounts.

Direct program staff in accounting matters relating to specific program funding.

Assist controller in budget preparation.

Extensive knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices of public accounting.

Extensive knowledge of federal and state laws, policies, and procedures as they pertain to accounting and bookkeeping.

Extensive knowledge of agency organization, function, and purpose.

Extensive knowledge of automated accounting systems.

Ability to lead budget preparations.

Ability to direct the preparation and interpretation of complex financial statements and reports.

Ability to analyze and solve complex accounting problems.

Ability to develop new, or modify existing, accounting procedures and methods.

Effective communication skills.
