Position SummaryEstablished by the Indiana Constitution, the Marion County Clerk is the custodian of all court records, issues marriage licenses, and serves as the court’s fiscal agent and trustee of child support payments. The Election Board receives nominations and petitions for elections, as well prepares ballots, and maintains voting machines by cultivating a productive, collaborative, and compliant work environment in order for our workforce to meet the needs of the citizens of Indianapolis and Marion County. Position is under limited supervision and is responsible for the accuracy and timely finance functions required to ensure the proper payments and disbursements of court ordered fees and fines. Incumbent will be free to utilize and exercise authority in the absence of supervision or standard operating policies and procedures.Substantial independent judgment is required.Position is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of invoices and bills for payment for the Department.All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran, or disability status. Ensure all financial transactions are documented in the general ledger and balanced daily. Process and enter deposits, credit memos, debit memos and notices of returned items in the case management system. Reconcile or note and report discrepancies found in records.

Responsible for reviewing bank activities to ensure daily deposits are matched to the general ledger and to ensure legality of all transactions.

Identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Adjust court fees according to the court order.

Knowledge of the methods and regulations involved in the process of accurate bookkeeping.

QualificationsAssociate degree in Accounting Principles, or a related field with excellent attention to detail. One (1) year of experience may be substituted of each year of required education. Must have knowledge of spreadsheets, financial analysis software and understanding of bookkeeping principles. Customer service oriented with strong organizational skills. Must possess the ability to multi-task effectively in order to prioritize tasks. Must be able to communicate effectively. Preferred Job Requirements and QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting Principles, or a related field with excellent attention to detail.
