The role is responsible for researching, developing and implementing brand protection capabilities and technology solutions designed to counter the risk of counterfeits and illicit trade worldwide, with specific focus on protecting patient safety, brand reputation and reclaiming / growing business value. The Director leads a US based global team of reports each with a specific technology & innovation focus area. These focus areas include risk assessment, product security solutions, market monitoring and internet intelligence, data & analytics, and forensic lab capabilities.The Director works closely with global/regional/local business leaders, cross-functional stakeholders, and with the GBP Regional/Segment teams to ensure alignment around business objectives, brand protection risks and strategies, illicit trade detection and response, project priorities and technology & innovation solutions. The role fosters a culture of innovation with advanced data & analytics and drives the adoption and sustainability of GBP technology programs.The Director also works with external agencies, academic institutions, and strategic partners to conduct research, develop concepts, establish intelligence, assess risks / threats and vulnerabilities to J&J’s patients/business, and leverages the partnerships and best practices to improve our ability to detect, deter and prevent counterfeit and illicit trade.Responsibilities:

Managing and coordinating the strategy, priorities, activities, and budget of the Brand Protection capabilities and technology team.

Engaging with key business and cross-functional partners to align, plan, develop, implement, and measure the effectiveness of assigned programs/initiatives.

Collaborating and teaming with VP GBP and leadership team of brand protection, and the various stakeholders (internally / externally) to develop an effective business case, strategies, and tactics to address and mitigate brand protection risks.

Assess vulnerabilities to illicit trade of existing and new products and recommend risk mitigating measures based upon product & package characteristics, supply chain and geographical pathways, and advance analytics & intelligence of threat patterns and attacks.

Effective management and performance development of direct reports. Leverage the GBP Talent Strategy to attract, develop, retain, and advance talent, while fostering DEI.

Partnering with key academic, industry, suppliers and other external parties to identify brand protection threats and develop strategic / tactical innovative / emerging solutions.

Tracking and measuring key GBP metrics, technology program effectiveness, vendor performance, and other programs/projects as may be assigned.

Qualifications

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required.

A minimum of 10 years relevant technical and business experience including 5-years’ experience in a supervisory role required.

An advanced postgraduate is preferred. Experience working within an industry in which one of the J&J sectors (Pharmaceutical, Medical Device) or Consumer Goods participates is required. Prior work history in brand protection, quality/compliance, supply chain, information technology or investigations/enforcement is preferred. Global experience is required. Experience leading a global, diverse multi-functional teams is required.

Effectively partners with and supports a team of four Regional Directors (RD) of brand protection (and their teams) each with cross-sector responsibility within J&J’s worldwide markets: NA, ASPAC, LATAM and EMEA.

Represents GBP at external conferences and presents to internal cross functional teams on the education of illicit risk and brand protection overview of risks, actions, and impact.

Fosters a culture of innovation with advanced data & analytics and supports the adoption and sustainability of GBP technology programs.

Drives prioritization to match the scale, sophistication, and unmet needs to address illicit trade, and ensure the proper resource allocations and investment levels needed to be successful.

30% Travel

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $142,000-$244,950. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
